Scotland Loves Skull Girls

Share

Hello everybody, its the Janitor here with a lil’ article about the hottest new fighting game to hit your console SkullGirls.

You’ve probably seen the videos hit the Facebooks with some stellar matchups caught with some of Scotland’s finest fighting game players. Shoutouts to 1Levelup for hosting the Saltire Suite and Wednesday Sessions the Stream and to Faker for Capturing the matches going down at the Saltire Suite Session on Monday. Also some fine tech from Swav Gav and Infy for Filia and Peacock hitting the internets too as well as some more videos from other parts of the community.

Personally I’ve found the game to be mad fun and really accessible, barring a few minor niggles, none of which really affect the game play I’d have to say this is one of the finest games I’ve had the pleasure of playing. The Netcode is solid, rare instances of lag so far, usually during Hypers, has really led to a smooth experience thus far.

The Characters are fun and varied with not only playing the characters solo but being able to team 2 or 3 with you choosing which of their moves is their assist leads to a deep team building experience with near endless potential to have the team and setup that suits you personally. And it just looks so stylish with colourful varied backgrounds, covering cathedrals, fish towns, mobsters lairs, with interesting bystanders some of whom may just be future DLC, GUY WITH A TANK FOR AN ARM, just saying.

I did a short Video with my initial thoughts and after the jump theres the archive from the 1-Level Up tournament and whatever Casual Matches and Tech I can find from Scotland’s Finest.

In short, get the game, have fun, watch these videos and have a blast!!

1LU Fight Dojo roundup 12/4/2012

Share

Last night saw a good showing as usual for 1LU thursdays, wth KOF XIII, 3S:OE, SSF4AE:2012 and UMvC3 all getting played.
The main game being played last night was the newly released Skullgirls and in typical VS fashion, a tournament had to be done for the release of the game!

With the new streaming equipment purchased and Skullgirls finally available to the community, we ran a 16 man single-elimination tournament.
Heres a link to the bracket:

http://1lu.challonge.com/skullgirls

Results:
1st place- QA|VS Sabredog(Peacock,Filia)
2nd place- ML3|VS Breslin(Valentine)
3rd place- Infy(Peacock)
4th place- Zaus(Filia)

There was impressive play all round from a day 2 tournament, seems most people are picking up the game fast. Most competitors were using solo characters apart from Sabredog and Faker.
Some interesting tactics/combos where done last night, the solid keep-out game Peacock has too the crazy gimmicks and mix up Double and Valentine have to offer.

Keep up to date with the versus-scotland facebook and website for future announcements with up coming tournaments/ranking battles and general news within the Scottish fighting game community!
